Cariboo Hill Secondary is adding five new academies for Burnaby students. Starting in the Fall of 2018, Cariboo Hill will offer a DigiPen Gaming Academy, a Palo Alto Cyber Security Academy, and Microsoft Office Specialist Certification. Lacrosse and volleyball academies will also be offered, making Cariboo Hill a new hub for personalised learning.
Improv (short for improvisation) is a theatre performance technique that encourages students to think outside the box, and create sketches “on the spot” – the exact opposite of scripts and memorization (the old method of learning that is largely being phased out of the BC curriculum).

The winter holidays are the perfect time for socialising with friends, and enjoying the best of the festive season – which often means indulging in lots of treats. It is also a great time of year to enjoy the outdoors in Burnaby and surrounding areas.
École Alpha Secondary, located in North Burnaby, is one of the smaller secondary schools in the district. Founded in 1950, Alpha offers many Advanced Placement (AP) and Honours courses, French Immersion, a mini school for advanced learning, extensive trades training, a wide range of athletic teams, and an impressive visual and performing arts department.
Camilla, aged 17, has been a student at Moscrop since September and will be staying until the end of January. An accomplished and talented volleyball player, Camilla joined the Moscrop Senior Girls Volleyball team and has led the team to important tournament wins.
Burnaby Central Secondary School’s building and surrounding facilities are a source of pride for its students.
