Our English Language Development program is designed to help students succeed in school, university, and beyond.

English is more than a language—it’s a foundation for academic success. Many of our international students are planning to go on to a top university in North America, so they need to be fully prepared to meet the demands of academic English.

Placement

Students are placed in one of three levels, based on their English proficiency. Secondary students complete a placement assessment online before arriving, while elementary students are assessed in person by a teacher once settled into their school.

Elementary Supports

Elementary students attend regular classes and receive additional English language support in small groups as needed. Teachers assess each child’s needs and provide appropriate support to ensure students are integrated and progressing.
