Burnaby School District is a group of institutions composed of 41 elementary schools (for ages 5–12) and 8 high schools (for ages 13–18), many of which provide first-class academic programs for international students.

1 – Skiing
Out of all the popular outdoor activities in Canada, Skiing has to be the most thrilling. Although Burnaby isn’t inherently snowy, it is situated less than an hour from a number of amazing ski areas: Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour. You can also drive for two hours to reach Whistler Blackcomb, the largest ski resort in North America.

2 – Ice Skating
If you are looking for a form of exercise that is fun, challenging and unique, why not have a go at ice skating? During fall and winter in Burnaby, you can glide across the ice at Bill Copeland Sports Centre, Burnaby Lake Arena or Kensington Complex.
Here in Burnaby, there are a number of ice skating lessons available for various age groups and abilities. So, you don’t have to be a natural on the ice, you can simply enjoy yourself whilst you learn an impressive skill.
3 – Walking
Canada has some amazing natural landscapes, meaning there are plenty of opportunities for excursions in the great outdoors. Burnaby is an urban oasis blessed with mountainous areas, green spaces, deep blue lakes and the glistening ocean, making it the perfect place to explore.
Hiking
Hiking is a great way to raise your heart rate whilst taking in some spectacular views. Here on our home turf, we have the magnificent Burnaby Mountain, a gorgeous alpine area with various hiking trails, a relaxing garden and wonderful views of the city.
Strolling
If you are the kind of student who prefers a laid-back walk to a high-intensity hike, there are plenty of places for a leisurely stroll in Burnaby. Why not wander along the shore? Or maybe the riverfront? We have many lush parks to choose from, and each offers beautiful scenery.
4 – Join a sports team
There is a real passion for sports activities in Canada, and this love extends to Burnaby School District. Burnaby students are known for excelling in sports, a success that is supported by our excellent facilities and dedicated teachers.
