Burnaby Central runs on a semester system which enables students to complete two years of a course in one year.
The school offers both Honours and Advanced Placement courses.
Renowned for its sports programming, Burnaby Central has won many provincial championships in Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, and Wrestling. Over 30 different sports teams run every year.
Its extensive award-winning Visual and Performing Arts program includes a strong music program. Courses include Photography, Jazz Band, Choir, Instrumental Music, Dance, Script Writing, Directing and more. Many students have been recognized for their outstanding performance by winning various awards including the prestigious Michael J. Fox award.
